CRIME STOPPERS IS A COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS PROGRAM
If you have information on a wanted felon, call the confidential tip line and provide the information. You will not be asked to leave your name, but will be given an access code. If your tip leads to the arrest of a wanted person you could earn up to $1,000. Call the tip line the following week and give your access code. You will be informed if your tip leads to the capture of a wanted person. If it has, you will be told how to collect your money over the phone.
All rewards paid to callers come from corporate sponsors through the Gold Sponsor Program. We are proud to say 100% of Gold Sponsor support goes directly to our reward fund.
If you would like to become a Gold Sponsor, you can join the team that makes our Valley a safer place. Your commitment of $1,200 per year – that’s just $100 a month – ensures the program will continue to grow. Additionally, your contribution is tax deductible.
Crime Stoppers originated in 1972 in Albuquerque, New Mexico when police asked a local television station to air a reenactment of an unsolved murder. Within 72 hours, police had received tips leading to the guilty person’s arrest. Albuquerque police realized that fear and apathy were primary factors in citizens not calling to assist in solving crimes, so they set up a nonprofit organization that would publicize and provide cash rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of criminals. Now, there are Crime Stoppers chapters across the county and around the world.
Valley Crime Stoppers was introduced to the City of Fresno in 1994. As a newly established nonprofit organization, the origins were very humble – with board members paying rewards out of their own pockets for a time. Since then, Valley Crime Stoppers has grown in size and scope and is a valuable partner to the many law enforcement agencies here in the Central San Joaquin Valley.
